Use a repeatable checking order
Compare identifiers character by character, then check dates, amounts and status fields. For a long code, split it into fixed blocks. Read from the source record to the copy rather than switching direction on every character.
Apply the exact rule
A duplicate customer name is not necessarily a duplicate record. If the rule uses account ID plus invoice number, compare that combined key. A valid date is not necessarily the correct date. Distinguish formatting differences from content differences only when the instructions permit it.
Check numbers in context
Transposed digits, missing zeros and decimal shifts are common error types. Recalculate line totals rather than trusting a familiar-looking amount. For dates, use the date format specified in the exercise, since day/month and month/day conventions differ.
Review the cause
When you miss an item, record whether the problem was a skipped field, a transposition, a misunderstood rule or rushed arithmetic. Our static records support a deliberate checking process. The optional timer measures your practice session; it is not a clinical attention measure or an employer benchmark.
Your first practice session
Compare exactly unless a question states a normalisation rule. Dates use ISO YYYY-MM-DD when shown. Do not assume differences are harmless.
