    Show answer and solution

    Answer: A. 35 m/s

    Multiply by 5/18: 126 × 5/18 = 35 m/s.
  2. 2. A car travels at 65 km/hr. How far will it go in 3 hours 30 minutes?
    1. 227.5 km
    2. 212.5 km
    3. 217.5 km
    4. 222.5 km

    Reference: q-e13ddb50-69 · Report this question

    Show answer and solution

    Answer: A. 227.5 km

    Distance = speed × time = 65 × 3.5 = 227.5 km.
  3. 3. A train 240 m long is running at 108 km/hr. In how many seconds will it cross a pole?
    1. 8 seconds
    2. 2 seconds
    3. 10 seconds
    4. 14 seconds

    Reference: q-27ccd8ed-86 · Report this question

    Show answer and solution

    Answer: A. 8 seconds

    Speed = 108 × 5/18 = 30 m/s. Time = 240 / 30 = 8 seconds.
  4. 4. A train 130 m long is running at 36 km/hr. How long will it take to cross a platform 80 m long?
    1. 12 seconds
    2. 24 seconds
    3. 21 seconds
    4. 13 seconds

    Reference: q-512c0dfe-96 · Report this question

    Show answer and solution

    Answer: C. 21 seconds

    Distance = 130 + 80 = 210 m. Speed = 10 m/s. Time = 210 / 10 = 21 seconds.
  5. 5. A man covers a certain distance at 40 km/hr and returns at 60 km/hr. Find his average speed for the whole journey.
    1. 54 km/hr
    2. 48 km/hr
    3. 42 km/hr
    4. 50 km/hr

    Reference: q-f624644e-115 · Report this question

    Show answer and solution

    Answer: B. 48 km/hr

    For equal distances, average speed = 2xy / (x + y) = 2 × 40 × 60 / 100 = 48 km/hr.
  6. 6. Convert 18 km/hr into metres per second.
    1. 15 m/s
    2. 5 m/s

    Answer: B. 5 m/s

    Multiply by 5/18: 18 × 5/18 = 5 m/s.
  7. 7. A car travels at 40 km/hr. How far will it go in 3 hours 30 minutes?
    1. 125 km
    2. 140 km
    3. 130 km
    4. 135 km

    Reference: q-4b72d23f-69 · Report this question

    Show answer and solution

    Answer: B. 140 km

    Distance = speed × time = 40 × 3.5 = 140 km.
  8. 8. A train 345 m long is running at 54 km/hr. In how many seconds will it cross a pole?
    1. 23 seconds
