Time and Work: key points

Time and work questions relate the number of workers, the days they take and the work done. The key idea is the share of the work done in one day.

  • If A finishes a work in a days, A's one day's work is 1/a.
  • A and B together finish it in ab / (a + b) days.
  • Men × days stays constant for the same work: M₁D₁ = M₂D₂.
  • Work left after x days of A = 1 − x/a.
